Antonio Citterio is one of the great names in Italian design and architecture. Recognized since the 1970s for his contemporary style, he inherited the craft from his father, who was hands-on in producing classic pieces in the Lombardy region.
In addition to signing collections for the main Italian design brands, Citterio also built a solid career in architecture. He explains that one thing leads to another: “Sometimes, while I’m doing an interior design project, the idea of designing products for that environment comes to me.” Today, some of his creations are exhibited in coveted addresses, such as the MoMA (New York) and the Centre George Pompidou (Paris).
In 1999, he co-founded with Patricia Viel the design, interiors, and architecture firm that is currently called “Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners.” His design work includes partnerships with brands like B&B Italia, Maxalto, and Flexform. These furniture design projects have already earned him two Compasso d’Oro awards, in 1987 (B&B Italia) and 1994.
